Profoto launches seven new extra-large parabolic reflectors
The comprehensive line of new Profoto Giants ranges from 150 to 300 cm
Profoto, the world-leading manufacturer of professional flash equipment, now launches a new
family of extra-large light shaping tools. Called the Profoto Giants, the new family ranges from an
affordable low-weight 150 cm version to an advanced 300 cm studio reflector with the deep, truly
parabolic shape needed for outstanding light quality and control.
This is a major release of new light shaping tools, and one that the market has been waiting for.
Im very pleased to ascertain that we can now offer both an absolute state-of-the-art product for
rental and studios, and handy alternatives for location work, says Fredrik Wejdmark, marketing
manager for Profoto.
The new Profoto Giants are:
The Profoto Giant Reflectors, in sizes 300, 240 and 180 cm, with 20 sectors and truly parabolic
silver reflectors, for optimum light ouput and precision. Features, among other things, the unique
Powerfold technology for easy assembly, and a foldable center bar for free positioning of the unit.
The Profoto Giant Silvers, in sizes 210 and 150 cm, with silver reflectors for a high light output and
crispy highlights, in the studio or on location.
The Profoto Giant Whites, in sizes 210 and 150 cm, with white reflectors for a smooth effect, in
the studio or on location.
All Profoto Giants are delivered with a stand adapter and a newly designed semi-hard bag, that fits
the collapsed reflector and all accessories. All Profoto Giants also accept all Profoto lamp heads, and
can be equipped with optional snap-on diffusors.
Profoto launches new and improved version of the classic Profoto Zoom Reflector
Smoother and more accurate, with an integrated grid holder, and an optional protection cap
covering the entire reflector.
Profoto, the world-leading manufacturer of professional flash equipment, now releases a new and
improved version of the companys classic Zoom Reflector.
The Zoom Reflector has been a favourite among professional photographers for over three
decades. It was time to let our R&D department develop an updated version, says Profoto
marketing director Fredrik Wejdmark.
The result is a reflector with very similar light characteristics as the old one, however improved
on almost every account.
The light from the new reflector is smoother yet more precise: the fall-off is more even, the
dynamic range bigger, the stray light almost completely eliminated, says Fredrik Wejdmark.
The new Zoom Reflector also features some completely new functions. First of all, it accepts
standard Profoto grids directly, without the use of any holder or adapter. Secondly, for rental
studios or other hardcore users, there is also an optional protection cap, the Zoom Cap, that fits
on top of the reflector - even if its holding a grid or if the reflector is mounted on a lamp head.
The Zoom Reflector is a general purpose reflector included with many of Profotos generators and
lamp heads.

Profoto launches new software for both Macintosh and Windows
The new Profoto Studio 2 features a new and improved user interface.
Profoto, the world-leading manufacturer of professional flash equipment, now launches the second
release of the Profoto Studio software, included with the Profoto D4 flash generator. The new
version, called Profoto Studio 2, improves on the older one on two major accounts: it has got a new
and improved user interface, and it works on both Macintosh and Windows computers.
Our customers have asked for a Windows version of the software. As for the change in the user
interface, we wanted to make the software easiser-to-use and - quite frankly - better-looking, more
in line with the general Profoto look&feel, says Fredrik Wejdmark, Marketing Manager for Profoto.
Using USB connections, Profoto Studio 2 can control up to 127 Profoto D4 generators from a single
Macintosh or Windows XP/Vista computer. For instance, the software can adjust the power or
modelling light, as well as turning off or on individual lamp heads, all with a simple click of the
mouse.
Profoto launches a new and improved ring flash with modeling light
The ProRing2 features a 200 W modeling light and unlimited flash rate.
Profoto, the world-leading manufacturer of professional flash equipment, now launches a
substantially improved version of its popular ProRing flash. The new flash head, called the ProRing2,
features a strong, 200 W modeling light and unlimited 2400 Ws performance.
For fashion photography, or other occasions when you want a fast, direct and very prominent
light, pointing in the same direction as you are holding the camera, the new Profoto ProRing2 is the
perfect companion, says Fredrik Wejdmark, marketing manager for Profoto.
The ProRing2 is a completely new product, incorporating a fan and an ozone free high power quartz
flash tube, which enables the unit to output as many 2400 Ws flashes per minute as the attached
generator can provide.
The modeling light has got several advantages. Except for the obvious one, that the photographer is able to see the lighting effect continuously, the model is relieved from being blinded when the flash fires which, in turn, also eliminates red eyes.
The ProRing2 is compatible with all former ProRing accessories, including the Close-up Reflector, the Softlight Reflector and the Widesoft Reflector.
The old ProRing is still for sale. With its lower weight and performance of up to eight 2400 Ws
flashes per minute, it makes a perfect choice for less demanding needs.
The ProRing2 includes: circular quartz flash tube, 12 x 20 W halogen modeling lamps, built-in fan,
camera adapter, stand adapter, and a 4 m (12 ft) cable.
